What does home battery installation cost in 2026?

From a complete installation to coupling work and the fuse box: all price guides in one place, plus the factors and extra work that determine what your situation costs.

A home battery installation in 2026 costs on average € 3,500 to € 8,000, including mounting and connection to a dedicated circuit in the fuse box. The separate jobs have their own bands: coupling a battery to existing solar panels € 350-900, preparing the fuse box € 350-950 and a consultation with payback calculation € 95-250, which is often offset once you award the job. Commercial battery storage starts around the level of a large home installation and is tailored work on a quote basis above that.

Six factors determine where you land in that band. The storage capacity in kilowatt-hours and the brand of the battery weigh heaviest. Then the coupling: a hybrid inverter combines solar panels and battery in one device, while a separate battery inverter means extra hardware in the quote. Then your connection — single-phase or three-phase caps the power at which the battery charges and discharges. Further: the placement (a garage or storage room close to the fuse box is standard work, a long cable run or outdoor placement is not), the state of the fuse box and the region: Randstad rates run 10-20% higher.

Don't budget without the extra work. The battery runs on a dedicated circuit, and if your consumer unit is full or outdated, fuse-box work is the first item added (€ 350-950). One item falls outside the installation quote: upgrading the grid connection itself goes through the grid operator, with its own rates and lead time. And mind the hardware side — we don't sell batteries ourselves. The installer supplies and installs the battery, so the price of the device sits in their quote and differs per brand and capacity.

So request several quotes and set them against the price index. A usable quote names the brand and capacity of the battery, the inverter or coupling method, the placement and cable route, the work in the fuse box and what happens if extra work turns up during installation. If you don't yet know whether a battery adds up in your situation, start with a payback calculation: that is a cheaper way to find out than an installation that disappoints.
